The Startjournal is now undertaking a 3-month campaign to raise our annual budget (40,000,000 UGX / 14,000 USD) to continue publishing local art stories for another year. Our goal is to sustain a vibrant contemporary art industry here in Uganda, and the part we play is documenting, analyzing and promoting local art.
Ugandan art requires the collective patronage and responsibility of our local community to evolve, so we call on you as a collector to join in this effort and donate any sum you can manage to keep us going for another year.
Through investing in us, you are playing a practical role in developing Uganda’s modern art industry by subsidizing the costs of our editor, writers, website maintenance, office expenses, printing the journal, participating in events, promotion and campaigning.
Startjournal.org is an online art journal that serves the objective of documenting art in Uganda and the greater African region. Since 2007, we have established the critical review element of our industry.
This is one arm of a larger initiative by the Kampala Arts Trust, founded in 2007, which hosted the Kampala Art Biennale in 2014, and aims to create an auction house and modern art museum in Kampala.
Together we can achieve these goals and build a sustainable local art industry that competes at an international standard.
Start funding the journal now by:
1. Visiting our Akabbo campaign page @ akabbo.ug/campaigns/startjournal-2015 (receiving MTN mobile money)
